Sad part of design engineers is they're either exploited as workhorses in startups, or a marginal good-economic-times role in bigger companies, usually relegated to fine-tuning, or as the unquestioning hands of designers
...instead of being seen as the product/design-minded person who just happens to have working ability in code as another means of exploration/thinking
